We just launched the Gap Fill Tool as a new addition to the CI Volatility suite that answers this question with real data.
How it works:
Pick any ticker, enter a gap percentage, and instantly see the full historical breakdown:
Intraday Stats — How often the stock closed higher or lower than its open, and whether the gap held or faded by end of day.
Gap Fill Timing — Whether the gap filled same day, within a week, within 30 days, after 30 days, or never filled at all
Historical Occurrences — A complete log of every matching gap day with previous close, open price, closing price, gap %, fill date, and days to fill.
